In 1980 our founder, Terry Griffin, worked at a Volkswagen dealership in Oakland, California as a line mechanic and there he witnessed for himself the poor customer service that
Volkswagen community received and wanted to make a difference. That’s when he decided to open Griffin Motorwerke with the goal of being the shop that people could trust with their vehicles. Terry’s passion originally grew from his love for cars and his desire to make them go faster. Outside of the shop, Terry enjoys bike riding, photography, and track days. Terry retired in 2022 and today, our owner, and Terry’s master mechanic for 20 years, Humberto “Curly” Ortiz, is keeping the tradition alive and customer service as our first priority.
Griffin Motorwerke is a long time retailer and experienced installer of Scheel-Mann and Recaro seats. All the employees at Griffin are serious gearheads. Everyone who works with us is involved in the business by choice, not necessity. Our common bond is motorsport and doing high-performance modifications to the cars we work on. This enthusiasm and dedication to customer service are what we at Griffin Motorwerke are all about.
